Discussing the Achievements in Safeguarding ICH over the Past Two Decades and Further Prospects

 
The 2023 World Forum for Intangible Cultural Heritage will be held at the National Intangible Heritage Center in Jeonju, Republic of Korea, over two days on 1 and 2 September in connection with the 2023 ICH Festival. The forum is hosted by the National Intangible Heritage Center (Director-General AHN Hyung Soon) under the Cultural Heritage Administration and organized by the UNESCO ICHCAP (Director-General KIM Jisung).

World Children’s Festival for
Intangible Cultural Heritage

 
The 2023 World Children’s Festival for Intangible Cultural Heritage is approaching. It will be a comprehensive festival, including performances, exhibitions, and hands-on experience opportunities on global intangible cultural heritage (ICH) for children. The festival will also bring ICH close to the families, especially targeting children as the future ICH-safeguarding generations.

Relaunching the MOOC on Living Heritage and Sustainable Development with additional languages

 
When it comes to sustainable development, the topic of intangible cultural heritage—or living heritage—is inadequately discussed despite its connection to gender equality, health, education, economic expansion, environmental preservation, and jobs creation, among others. Living heritage is a source of well-being by ensuring the future resilience for next generations, which can be a factor in sustainable development. To further explore the linkage between the two, the free MOOC on Living Heritage and Sustainable Development is relaunching on 1 September 2023.

Living Heritage Lesson Plan Contest

 
T he UNESCO Multisectoral Regional Office in Bangkok is delighted to announce the launch of the Asia-Pacific Living Heritage Lesson Plan Contest 2023. We invite educators from across the Asia-Pacific region to showcase their creativity and pedagogical expertise by submitting innovative lesson plans that integrate Living Heritage or Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) into the classroom. This exciting competition aims to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the rich cultural traditions and practices that shape our diverse communities. By bringing living heritage to life through engaging lesson plans, we hope to inspire a new generation of learners to connect with and preserve our shared heritage.
