2023 Regular Meeting of the Korea UNESCO C2C Council Held

 
ICHCAP held the 2023 regular meeting of the Korea UNESCO Category 2 Centers Council at the National Intangible Heritage Center in Jeonju on Friday, 19 May. Eight centers* attended the meeting, including six full member organizations, one candidate organization, and one associate member organization.

Call for Applications: 2023 ASEAN-ROK Professional Training Program on XR/Metaverse

 
The International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP), is accepting applications for the 2023 ASEAN-ROK Professional Training Program on XR/Metaverse in partnership with the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) and the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (BIPA) of the Republic of Korea. The program focuses on the intersection of intangible cultural heritage and technology and consists of online and offline sessions. During the online session (3 to 21 July 2023), forty participants will explore the XR/Metaverse technologies and write project proposals.

2023 International Forum on Central Asian Traditional New Year Celebrations

 
Seoul, May 15 (Monday) – The International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (ICHCAP), in collaboration with three institutions, successfully co-hosted the 2023 International Forum on Central Asian Traditional New Year Celebrations at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Seoul Campus. The event, held on May 15, aimed to explore the similarities and differences in traditional New Year celebrations in Central Asia while promoting future exchanges and cooperation.

UNESCO organized three online sessions to explain the International Assistance mechanism

 
T he Living Heritage Entity organized three information sessions, on 11th, 12th and 14th of April, to present, the modalities and processes for applying to the fund under the International Assistance mechanism of the Convention. More than 250 participants, involved in the field of intangible cultural heritage safeguarding, attended these online sessions conducted in English, French, Arabic and Spanish. The webinars also provided an opportunity to present the latest edition of the Toolkit for requesting International Assistance from the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and to explain the changes related to international assistance that were made to the Operational Directives ninth session of the General Assembly in July 2022.
