ICHCAP and Timor-Leste National Commission for UNESCO Cooperate to Safeguard ICH in Timor-Leste

 
ICHCAP, in cooperation with the Timor-Leste National Commission for UNESCO, has produced booklets and audiovisual materials containing information on various ICH elements in Timor-Leste, including the representative ICH element “Tais (traditional textile).” This project was carried out over 2021~22 with the aim of illuminating the role of women in Timor-Leste in ICH safeguarding; raising awareness of ICH in Timor-Leste through producing education and promotional materials; enhancing the international visibility of ICH in Timor-Leste. Various ICH communities, including ICHCAP and the national commission, participated.

Showcase Ceremony of ICH
aries in Bhutan

 
The showcase ceremony of the Bhutan ICH aries supported by ICHCAP was held on 17 October in Thimphu, Bhutan. ICHCAP partnered with the Loden Foundation, a civil society organization (CSO) that supports Bhutan’s culture and traditions, education, and social entrepreneurship, to produce ten 25-minute aries. Representatives and experts from Bhutan’s major cultural institutions, including the Ministry of Home and Culture Affairs and the National Library and Archives, attended to celebrate the successful conclusion of the cooperative project and the completion of the ary series.

Bringing Living Heritage to the Classroom, National Workshop to be held on 1 to 4 November in Nepal

 
I CHCAP will hold the national workshop on brining living heritage to the classroom in cooperation with the UNESCO Kathmandu Office from November 1 to 4, 2022 in Kathmandu, Nepal ICHCAP and the UNESCO Kathmandu invites about 80 local participants in Nepal, including school teachers, school managers, NGOS, community members such as bearers as well as government officials from the Ministry of Education and Culture. This workshop has been designed to use new methodology and materials developed by the UNESCO Bangkok for teachers in the actual school education so that more local teachers are able to use their ICH in their classes.

Second ICH Youth Creators Program
in Progress

 
I CHCAP began operating the Second Youth ICH Creator Program starting this month. The five selected creators will be onboarded for four months from 1 September through 30 December 2022. They will produce new content related to ICH. The goals of the project are promoting ICH safeguarding activities in the Asia-Pacific region to youth and strengthening the capacity of content-making in cooperation with ICHCAP. The team is separated into three categories: video, card news (a format popular in Korea in which a news story is presented as a slide show), and design.
