The Korea Heritage Service (Director Choi Eungcheon), together with the Korea Heritage Agency (Director Choi Youngchang), held ‘National Intangible Heritage Public Events’ and ‘Transmitters Host Planning Event’ throughout the country in June.

The ‘National Intangible Heritage Public Event’ allows practitioners to showcase their skills to popularize intangible cultural heritage. Among the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage events were “The Gangneung Danoje Festival” (June 5 / Gangneung Dano Market and designated event site), “Taekkyeon” (June 15 / Chungju Hoam Art Museum), and “Pansori” (June 20 / KOUS Korean Culture House). A total of 35 different public events were held in June.

The Transmitters Host Planning Event features intangible heritage performances and exhibitions freely planned by the practitioners, with 25 events held in June. In addition to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage “Royal Ancestral Ritual in the Jongmyo Shrine and Its Music” (June 1 / Yeongnyeongjeon, Jongmyo Shrine, Seoul), which has been recognized as a globally unprecedented comprehensive ritual, “Ganggangsullae” (June 7 / Sol Beach Jindo) was also held. The national intangible cultural heritage disclosure and planning events concluded with the “Gangneung Danoje Festival” (June 29 / Gangneung Danoje Festival Training Center).

The Korea Heritage Service plans to expand the public's opportunities to enjoy intangible cultural heritage through proactive administration, including operating various events to provide accessible and engaging experiences with national intangible cultural heritage.
