UNESCO recently published the Proceedings of the sixth UNESCO Sub-Regional Symposium on Paper Conservation and Paper making Traditions in East Asia. The publication is the main outcome of the symposium held in Ningbo, China, in December 2015. It includes a collection of articles presented and/or submitted at the symposium.

The symposium is part of a sub-regional long-term project titled, Project on Methodology of Paper Conservation and Paper making Traditions in East Asia, initiated by the UNESCO Beijing Office. With participation of five cluster countries—namely, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Japan, Mongolia, the People’s Republic of China, and the Republic of Korea—the aim of the meeting is to promote intercultural dialogue and foster technical exchange among East Asian countries in the field of paper conservation and traditional papermaking through a series of project activities.
