ICHCAP designed the book to promote the convergence of science and intangible cultural heritage (ICH) fields; to spread the value of the intangible cultural heritage of ‘water.’ Nine stories on ‘water management’ and ‘water and culture’ were gathered in one place. It contains stories about water-related ICH elements, such as water management as the transmission of traditional knowledge and agriculture as water-related culture. Through this book, readers will be able to explore the value of water, which is an essential factor for humankind, from a cultural perspective.
The joint publication commemoration seminar was held at EXCO in Daegu, the Republic of Korea, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on 24 November 2022, and was operated as a hybrid format considering the COVID-19 situation. The seminar was held in the order of greetings from Kim Jisung, Director-General of ICHCAP, and Shin Bongwoo, Director of the i-WSSM, the introduction of ICHCAP’s Living Heritage Series project, and presentations from the authors.
ICHCAP has been publishing the Living Heritage Series to spread the value of ICH and promote vitality that contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals(UN-SDGs). This book is the sixth edition of the Living Heritage Series, and the seventh edition will be published next year under the theme of ‘storytelling.’
All the Living Heritage Series can be downloaded freely from the ICHCAP's website (www.unesco-ichcap.org).
