Herbal Asia 2017, also recognized as the tenth International Trade Show & Conference for Herbal, Green and Natural Industries, was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center from 20 to 22 September 2017. Supported by governmental and private institutions, the event was curated by GITEX Global Exhibition Services. Herbal Asia 2017 was intended to attract about 400 national and international exhibitors, and more than 10,000 visitors consisting of industry players, non-profit organizations, trade associations, government agencies, universities, and the general public.

With Malaysia’s rich tropical rainforest where essentially 100 species of fern and over 150,000 species of flora and fauna can be found, Herbal Asia 2017 manifested a high regard of the peninsula’s potential in gaining foothold in the global herbal market, reinforcing the use of traditional medicinal formula and aquatic resources for wellness and global health. In addition to pocket talks, business matching sessions, demo and education session on Asian food & heritage, the conference segment of the event dedicated a significant time to think of how traditional medicine can be a part of modern life and how the supply of raw materials for the herbal industry can be sustainable.

The conference addressed topics relevant to herbal product innovation such as the challenges and opportunities in making and marketing herbal products. In the hopes of making Herbal Asia 2017 a successful and riveting event, the organizer designed ten knowledge-enriching programs for the visitors to revel in. These programs were Herbal Hub Workshop & Trade Talk, Hot and New Herbal-Related Products and Services, Bio Scientist and R&D Workshop, Product Innovation and Industry Showcase, Asian Heritage and Food Demo, Herbal Week Campaign & Competition at participating Hotels, Fresh Market & Farm Direct, and Herbal Startup program.

The next Herbal Asia is expected to take place in September 2018.
