Call for Presentations: Celebrating Traditional Seafaring in the Pacific

On 8 December, voyaging canoe rides will be available; following that is an evening presentation of renowned traditional dances of Yap. On 9 December, a photo exhibit of Yap's seafaring history will be on display with other exhibits. Visitors will also have an opportunity to taste traditional celebratory foods connected to successful long sea voyages.
In conjunction with the 8th Annual Yap Canoe Festival, there will be a Canoe Summit in Colonia, Yap, Federated States of Micronesia. This one-day conference will be held on 7 December 2017 and moderated by Master Navigator (Pwo) Ali Haleyalur. The objectives of the Summit is to continue to encourage the sharing of knowledge and skills related to traditional seafaring in the Pacific among practitioners and scholars in the field of Canoe culture, enhancing regional and international cooperation for its safeguarding and transmission.
The summit will be open to practitioners and experts to deliver a presentation on relevant topics in the field of canoe culture. During the Summit, practitioners would take Activity Reports program, while experts take Research Reports program. The estimated time for the presentation is 10-15 minutes.
