ICHCAP will hold the 2020 ICH NGO Conference from 12 to 13 November 2020 online, jointly with the ICH NGO Forum.
Since 2016, the 1st Asia-Pacific NGO Conference held in Jeonju, Korea, this conference is continuing biennially. This year, the participants will have discussions under the theme of “ICH and Resilience in Crisis.” They will share experiences on NGOs activities by comparing B.C. (Before Corona) and A.C. (After Corona) and explore a future direction for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage. Representatives of eleven organizations in the ICH-safeguarding field from ten countries will attend the conference, selected through an application process.
Particularly, the special lecture, scheduled for the first day, is about Resilience Systems Analysis, sharing implications of the OECD’s efforts to quantify the qualitative concept of resilience after the disasters. During the sessions, it will be discussed the international discourse on the 2003 Convention in the era of Corona, as well as presentation and discussions on the role of NGOs in safeguarding ICH, changes in ICH education brought by COVID-19, and interdisciplinary cases to look through with the comprehensive perspective. At the closing ceremony of the last day, every participant will review the discussions for two days and conclude by adopting the outcome document to promote future cooperation between NGOs in the field of ICH.
The conference, in its entirety, is free and open to the public. Interested parties should register through this link. Official language is English, and the sessions will be live-streamed on the ICHCAP’s official YouTube channel. You can find more information in here.
