Session IV mirrors the 2020 UNESCO Capacity-Building Workshop on Developing a Common ICH Teaching Framework for Higher Education Institutions in the Asia-Pacific Region, which is designed exclusively for APHEN-ICH Member Institutions. Co-facilitated by Dr. Mark Jacobs of University of Antwerp and Dr. Amareswar Galla of the International Institute for the Inclusive Museum, the workshop will run from 11 to 14 August 2020. Indeed, Session IV of the ICH Webinar Series is an opportunity for those who are not affiliated with APHEN-ICH, serving a larger number of participants with the aim of determining how living heritage can be significantly integrated into higher education curricula concurrently with common pedagogical objectives. This session is conceived for an in-depth discussion of specific areas in curriculum development where aspects of living heritage can be incorporated toward a curricular infrastructure that embraces cultural diversity and ensures the safeguarding of ICH in higher education settings. Knowing that ICH integration is not a single-institution problem but a transnational issue, curriculum development should also not be treated as an isolated practice but as an opportunity to collaborate, (re)learn from academics and students across the world, and aspire for a nuanced higher education that nourishes the living heritage of the humanity for global prosperity and literacy. It will be moderated by Mr. Iwamoto Wataru (Director-General, IRCI), featuring presentations by Ms. Emily Drani (Executive Director, Cross Cultural Foundation of Uganda), Dr. Frances C. Koya Vaka’uta (Professor, the University of the South Pacific), and Dr. Marc Jacobs (Professor, University of Antwerp).
The ICH Webinar Series in its entirety is free and open to the public. Interested parties should register through this link. Please visit this webpage for a consolidated information about the series, and the session will be live-streamed on the following:
