ICHCAP Will Host an International Seminar on ICH and Higher Education in May 2019

ICHCAP will host an international seminar, ‘ICH Pedagogy: Status and Challenges in the Asia-Pacific Region in Reference to UNESCO’s Overall Results Framework,’ at the National Museum of Korea, Seoul, on 10 May, in cooperation with the Asia-Pacific Education Network for Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage (APHEN-ICH), UNESCO Bangkok Office, and Korea National University of Cultural Heritage (KNUCH) and with support from the Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea.

ICHCAP established APHEN-ICH in September 2018 with higher education institutions that train professionals as strategic partners for implementing the 2003 Convention and has continued its efforts to emphasize an inter-sectoral approach between education and ICH.

As part of these efforts, ICH education experts from India, Japan, the Philippines, and Republic of Korea will discuss the current status and challenges of higher ICH education with a particular focus on UNESCO’s Overall Result Framework. In the same context, ICHCAP will host the network’s first bureau meeting on 11 May to discuss joint projects such as academic seminars, conferences, curriculum development, and research to promote sustainable academic exchanges among Network members and enhance their research capacities.

ICHCAP will continue to support a variety of projects to invigorate ICH research through this network. For any inquiries about the event and the network, please contact the network secretariat at aphen.ich.2018@gmail.com
